Jeff "Ponz" Ponczak – the DI loses a beloved alum

The Daily Illini lost one of our most beloved alums this past week – Jeff Ponczak, sports reporter and editor, 1987-91. Jeff, fondly known to all of us as "Ponz," died this past Saturday, June 14, from complications caused by a lifelong struggle with congenital heart disease. Read More >>

UI and DI alumnus Robert Novak dies

We've had several alums contact us to tell us about Robert Novak's death earlier today. Mr. Novak was inducted into the Illini Media Hall of Fame in the fall of 2007 and came back to Champaign for the celebration.
